Meet The Staff

Dale Payne, President 

Dale Payne began Sumner Roofing Company in 1989, opening their first office on Maple St. As the business grew, he moved the company to the City Square Shopping Center. Over the years, Sumner Roofing has continued to grow, moving them to their current location at 115 Powell Drive in Hendersonville, TN. Dale grew up in the construction business. He started working with his father, Bob Payne, framing houses while still in high school. While he worked with his dad building houses, weekends would find him on someone’s roof. As time went on, he realized that houses will always need a roof, so Sumner Roofing Company was born. Over time Dale found that his roof customers also needed gutters, siding, windows, and doors. Answering that need, Dale has expanded the company to provide the quality products, and services that Middle Tennessee residents have expected. Today, the company is known as Sumner Roofing & Exteriors, providing quality construction services for residential and commercial buildings.
